I had heard about the Dream Cafe in Dallas but was surprised to findout that Addison had one as well. Addison is right by my
kids school so it won the right to fill my stomach. First off this Dream Cafe is not easy to find. The address in Belt Line but it's really on Montfort so don't expect to find it driving up and down Beltline. Anyway it was worth the trouble because my breakfast was great. Dream Cafe is open for Breakfast and Lunch and everything on the menu is organic. They have several Vegan options and few options that can be made Vegan by request. I went with the Southwest Tofu Scramble and a side of hash browns. Make sure to ask for Vegan Hash Browns they use regular butter if you don't specify. So my food was delicious and I even had some coffee with Soy milk and unbleached sugar. Now that my stomach was filled it was time to head out to DeepEllum for my tattoo.

I was nervous about the tattoo since all my other tat's were done in Portland by Rev Doug at Pearl District Tattoo. I had done my research though and the place I choose Elm St Tattoo had a great reputation and history. I had talked to Dean Williams (Owner and Artist) back and forth via email and I had a good feeling about him so that made it easier. Once I got there I could not have felt better, we got along great and I have made him my new BFF. We spent a solid hour just bullshitting and talking about music before we even got into the Tattoo. A couple cool points about Elm St, the co-owner was married to Kat Von Dee, and every Friday the 13th they do tattoo's for $13 bucks. It's a minimum tip of $7 and the tattoo must be a 13 and on the giant menu list they have. So they have this giant list of 13 tattoos and man I'm hooked! I've already got a plan on which one's I want so Dean is gonna be seeing me every Friday the 13th for awhile

Once we finished talking and got the tattoo drawn and stenciled on my arm it was time to lay down and get to work. Now one thing I had discovered was that Dean & I had almost identical taste in music. This made for a very pleasant tattoo and I through on my ipod so we'd have some music. We skipped around then settled on Lucero which lead to a spirited debate on what genre Lucero should be filed under. We both agreed that the common term Alt Country was a shitty term for a music genre and settled on americana instead.
So 4 hours later I was finished and headed back to the depressing world of north Dallas suburbia. I had found a new breakfast place, a new BFF, and new music genre. That is a pretty eventful day.
